Chester Zoo
Chester Zoo is a unique educational venue.
Whether your subject is science, art, geography or English,
our unique resources provide an experience which makes learning
dynamic and fun. From nursery to Key Stages 1 to 5 and
above, there is something for all ages and educational levels
across the curriculum at Chester Zoo.
Our Discovery and Learning Division is a vibrant and dynamic
team providing exciting activities through our hands-on
classroom based sessions in science, psychology and BSLT;
short, snappy entertaining talks at our animal enclosures;
interesting and thought-provoking exhibitions and informative
and interactive signage (interpretation) throughout the
Zoo. Their library is also a valuable
resource for higher education students.
From confiscated biofacts on loan from HM Customs, to
parasite specimens in Zoo
Vets & the inside story exhibition, to their
virtual storm in the Realm
of the Red Ape, to amusing anecdotes about our animal
collection, Chester Zoo provides a memorable and stimulating
learning experience for everyone.
Education is an essential aspect of conservation.
By inspiring today's children, pupils and students to care for
our planet's wildlife and its habitats we are a step closer to
achieving the Zoo's mission of being a major force in
conserving biodiversity worldwide!
Every visit to Chester Zoo is a unique and exciting
experience. The UK's number one Zoo, close to the historic
city of Chester, is set in 110 acres of award-winning
gardens. In this spectacular setting there are over 7000
animals & more than 400 species of rare, exotic
and endangered wildlife. We have created world class
exhibits, which provide excellent welfare for the animals
and an engaging experience for our 1.4 million
visitors.
Chester Zoo's gardens are deservedly famous and
provide a glorious backdrop to the animals. With plants
from around the world, the gardens reflect the natural
habitats of some of our most exotic species.
Our play areas are spread around the Zoo to give the
children the chance to burn off some of that energy. Mums
and dads can have a well earned rest whilst the children
are running, jumping and climbing in the play
areas. If you want to join in why don't you try
out their golf course or boating lake?
